In general, Knox is the leader of the group. Coming from an upbringing with a military man for a father and losing his sister, he’s filled with a drive to keep everybody in his group alive and in one piece on their journey to safety across the states. He doesn’t take well to being challenged… but Ami does it anyway. When she doesn’t agree with his decisions, she says so and never wants to back down any more than he does. They consistently butt heads, and there’s been at least one physical altercation between the two of them but truth is, they’re each probably necessary to the other’s well being.
