“I was just a pathological liar when I was a kid. I just always lied about everything. I think it was partly I just wanted to one up somebody, like someone would be like, “Oh god, my leg hurts.” And I would be like, “Your legs hurt? I’m getting mine amputated next week!” And that’s actually how my mother found out, she came to school and somebody’s like, “God, that’s such a shame about Jennifer’s legs.” And so she made me purge, and I had to wrap myself up in a blanket and go underneath my bed and I had to spill out all my lies, I was like, “I said Dad drove a Barge and we were millionaires and you were pregnant and I had to get my legs amputated and I spayed cats and dogs on the weekends!” And now I can’t lie, I get anxiety over it.”
