I was driving this morning, listening to my favorite radio station. The DJs had asked callers what fictional television show they wished they could hop into and live in for a day. One caller said Mad Men, and when the DJ asked if he’d be “cool” with being a misogynist if it were more “socially acceptable,” he said, and I quote,
“Yeah, if it were okay. I’d bang all those women, smoke in the office… yeah. I’d be a misogynist.”Congratulations, caller - you already are one!
I know that there’s a point to it in Mad Men, and it’s just honest but this is the reason why I’m just couldn’t get into the Pilot or second episodes of Mad Men.
I got too annoyed with the misogyny, historically appropriate or not.
